Wildfire Public House
About This Spot
Stepping into Wildfire Public House feels a bit like arriving at a welcoming neighborhood gathering spot where time slows just enough to savor good company and thoughtful fare. Tucked away on Oakdale Road in Modesto, this expansive space balances casual comfort with an attentive warmth—inviting guests to settle in for a meal, a drink, or both, without rushing through the experience.
The atmosphere strikes a familiar yet lively chord, reminiscent of a local favorite where the faces behind the counter and the servers weaving between tables become part of the evening’s story. Whether it’s the hum of conversations sharing long-overdue updates or the clinking of glasses meeting freshly poured craft beers, Wildfire feels simultaneously accommodating and energized. It’s the kind of place where waiting staff manage to feel like a friendly guide, knowledgeable about the menu’s nuances and enthusiastic about connecting guests with dishes that resonate.
That menu itself reads like an invitation to explore hearty, thoughtfully prepared dishes that marry comfort with a touch of unexpected flair. From the fresh vibrancy of vibrant salads to the satisfying richness of slow-braised short ribs or the carefully grilled steaks, the menu encourages sharing and savoring. The bar offers a curated selection of drinks that perfectly complement the food—whether you're in the mood for a punchy margarita or a flight of local brews, the balance here feels effortless.
Weekends add another layer to the experience when brunch rolls around, bringing dishes that warm both heart and palate, with items that surprise and comfort in equal measure. For families, the thoughtfully crafted kids’ options make Wildfire a spot that welcomes visitors of all ages without compromise.
Overall, Wildfire Public House embodies the spirit of a lively yet unpretentious gathering place. It’s where familiar faces mix with new ones, and every visit holds the kind of simple human moments that turn a restaurant into a community staple. This isn’t just a stop for a meal—it’s a place where the rhythm of the day slows enough for connections to happen, one thoughtful plate and one shared smile at a time.

Honestly, I never come here and I dont even know why I don't, because every time I come here they never disappoint. From the the short braised rib plate, to the spicy chicken sandwich, to the brown cake and vanilla ice cream! Everything was phenomenal. I need to come here more often! Gaby was our waitress and she was very informative about plates and served us with a great smile! Thanks again for great service and food! It’s Friday night and you are looking for a place where the food is phenomenal, the service is impeccable, and the atmosphere will make you feel like you’ve walked into “Cheers” where everybody knows your name! WildFire Public House is THE place to be! Don’t be fooled by the “small town” of Modesto…this place rivals the 5 star restaurants in the Bay Area! Best part…it’s in my backyard! If you are anywhere within a 50 minute drive, you MUST make it in to try one of the dozens of signature dishes that will make you wish you could come every night!

The food was pretty tasty, I had the Harrisa Penne that comes with shrimp and added chicken . My wife had the mushroom risotto and didn't care for it. While my dish was tasty I expected a bit more from this place which is why I'm not giving 5 star. This was my first time in and so these are the only dishes we tried. I would try some other dishes if I'm back in the area.

I had heard about Wildfire and driven by it a lot but never inquired or stopped. Someone suggested it to me so I looked at the menu online and was surprised and the offerings. I’ve eaten here twice now, the first time in January 2025 then again for a birthday about a month or so later. The service was really good, and the interior seating is nice. It’s very large inside and there are different areas, including a bar. They have TVs with various sports playing if that’s your thing. They have a diverse menu with lots of options. I really like lamb so I had to try that and it was really good. The desserts are phenomenal. Everything I ordered was really good (see the photos). Everything is also very reasonably priced. I have told several people at work about this place and I highly recommend it.

Saw this place on IG and went for lunch on my birthday to try it out. The food is pricey but I’m aware everything has gone up so it is what it is. (Over $100 for 2 people no alcohol). Reagan was our server and delivered sensational service and made my first experience incredible. Great food, clean atmosphere and top tier service from her. She was super informative, friendly, and attentive. I don’t live in the area but it will be worth the drive to visit again. Thank you Reagan! :)
